I design products, and the way we build them.

Working the problems that sit between teams, where no one holds the whole picture. Turning that ambiguity into something a team can build is the work I care about.

    Embedded Finance for Back Market

Sellers were owed money they couldn’t touch until next week. BackFunds pays it out the next business day, designed never to read as debt. I owned it end to end, from coded concept to launch.

    AI Strategy for Back Market

Nobody knew how much autonomy sellers would accept from AI. I ran the 118-seller study that answered it, and the posture it produced, suggest and confirm, is now Back Market’s stated AI strategy for 2026. Today it ships as the Seller Assistant.

How I Work

About

Andrew Malone

The work before the design work.

That’s the part of the job I like most: being early, close to the team, and asking the questions nobody’s asked yet. By the time it looks like design work, the hardest parts are already settled.

An Irishman in Berlin, ten years into a career that started in industrial design and found its home in digital. I took the long route, and I think it shows in how I approach problems.

Away from screens I’m usually behind a camera or training for a physical goal I’ve set myself. Persistently optimistic about both.
